The Lakeville Library trustees and the Lakeville historical commission dedicated the Lakeville
library's local history room on Saturday May 9, 2009 to the "Brian H. Reynolds Local History Room" in
honor of and in appreciation for his years of dedication to the preservation of Lakeville's history.

Brian H. Reynolds

Brian has been engaged in the pursuit of and preservation of Lakeville's history for many years. Following Sheldon Vigers death in 1980, Brian was elected to the position of President of the Lakeville Historical Society. He has served as the second president of the Society for twenty-nine years. During this time the Society has expanded its faculties at the former Grove Chapel Church and now includes two carriage sheds and two smaller structures. Every Saturday and Sunday over the summer, Brian is available to discuss local history at the museum. Brian continues to support the acquisition of materials to expand the museum's collection and to preserve artifacts relating to Lakeville's history.

On October 14, 1980, Brian was elected Chairman of the Lakeville Historical Commission. He has served in that capacity for the last twenty-nine years. The Historical Commission is the town department responsible for preservation and research. Under his leadership, preservation activities have taken place including, but not limited to restoration of the National Historic Register Town House - Town Hall, continued town properties surveys, and the educational and informational element, "Lakeville Perspectives".

In his own right, Brian is an avid genealogist who holds membership in a number of associations. His steady pursuit of records and information has assisted numerous individuals in their searches.

The Lakeville Historical Commission is pleased to join the Trustees in supporting the naming of the Local History Room in Brian's honor. It is fitting and proper that Brian's endeavors should be recognized by the community in this manner.
