"Chair-ish Your Library" Fundraiser
Are you bored inside this winter?
Do you feel creative, but do not know what to create? How about decorating an old chair for a new use? Then you can share your talent with the community and benefit the Lakeville Public Library at the same time!
The Lakeville Public Library Gallery Arts Committee is asking you to locate
a sturdy chair (new or used) that you would like to decorate. Your chair may be wooden, metal, plastic, canvas, or fabric. It may be a straight chair, stool, rocking chair, folding chair, desk chair, upholstered chair, children's chair, Adirondack or other outdoor chair. The ONLY requirement is that your chair be sturdy enough to be used as actual seating at the end of the project. You may create a festive chair to sit at a child’s desk. You may paint and/or upholster a chair to adorn a special corner in a living room. You could create a birthday chair that would be perfect for a birthday boy or girl to sit in or even decoupage a chair for a garden setting! The possibilities are endless! If you "think" you have an idea and aren't sure, email us at greatpondsgallery@gmail.com.
Applications, with complete rules and dates for this program are available at the bottom of this page as well as at the library. Please fill one out to let us know you intend to join the fun! You can bring it to the Library or email is to us at greatpondsgallery@gmail.com.
In April, all chairs will be on display in the Lakeville Public Library. At the end of the month, your special chair may find a new home via Silent Auction, proceeds of which will benefit the Lakeville Public Library. We're looking forward to seeing your creativity at the CHAIR-ISH YOUR LIBRARY exhibit, taking place in the Great Ponds Gallery inside the Lakeville Public Library throughout the month of April 2012!
